Friction | Max for Live Device
Friction is a Max for Live MIDI effect that creates exponential and logarithmic rhythms. Inspired by Mr. Bills tutorial on the subject (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbsQ3w0hPcw), the device simplifies an otherwise tedious process of creating the rhythmic sequence.
Choose either a logarithmic or exponential curve, and its duration using the duration dial. Duration follows the tempo of the Live set, and is counted in increment of one beat. The curve dial modifies the curvature of the slope. The min/max number boxes set the starting and ending length of the rhythmic sequence. The device on/off button can be used for automation, or mapped to a midi device for toggling.
Friction supports 8 voice polyphony, though all voices are locked to a single rhythmic sequence. Adding or releasing a note initializes the rhythmic sequence.
